CAN-AM SCORES HISTORIC FIRST WIN ON ITP HOLESHOT GNCCs
Well, that didn't take long. In its very first Pro ATV event, the new Can-Am DS450 found its way to the top of the podium. It had some help, of course, in the form of Josh Frederick and Team Epic, the runaway leaders of the 2007 World-Off-Road Championship Series.
This historic event took place at Olympia, Washington, round seven of the series. Frederick got the ball rolling with a victory in the Open Pro division in perfect racing conditions on Saturday of this race weekend. Washington's notoriously wet weather came to bear on Sunday, however, making the course a treacherous, muddy mess. But the winner was the same, as Frederick and his Can-Am worked past early leader Doug Eichner at the one-hour mark and then steadily built a winning margin. Eichner and his Duncan Racing-backed Polaris held on for second, while the other Epic Racing Can-Am of Jeremy Schell rounded out the podium.
A great deal of help came from the winner's choice of tires, too. Frederick once again chose ITP Holeshot GNCC tires front and rear, as he has done all year - taking six wins and a second place finish in the process. Frederick now enjoys a huge points lead in the series with four events remaining on the schedule. Fellow Holeshot GNCC riders Eichner and Schell are a comfortable 2-3 in the series to date.
